Literary HackA Serious Man's Crazy Opinion

The Coen Brothers' latest produced and directed movie, A Serious Man, is a black comedy dealing with a normal middle-aged guy, amidst life changes, seeking to grasp and understand life and its reasons.
I admit, I am not a "real" movie critic. I have no super college degree. No exalted publications I can claim to have ever been a part of. I don't have a plethora of years in the "critiquing" field. This must be why I am so comfortable with this idea: Sometimes, I must miss the plot and point in its entirety.
This has to be what happened to me as I sat their for two excruciatingly long hours watching A Serious Man. I failed to see any redeeming qualities in the film. I know I must be wrong since the world liked it. The critics loved it. And it's known the Coen brothers can do no wrong.
Of course, I wonder if it's the fact the Coen brothers are the creators of this film might lend to some of the aforementioned adoration. All but several minutes of the two hour film was boring. The characters were ludicrous, but not in a funny or likable manner. They were atrociously awful human beings for the most part, meaning spending two hours with them left me feeling somewhat demoralized for some time after.
Was it just me that felt this way? Since it was nominated for best picture this past Academy Awards, it probably was.
