I probably am the last one to the party. The documentary, HOME, was released on June 5, 2009 simultaneously in theaters spanning over 50 countries, on DVD, TV, and the internet. The goal, director Yann Arthus-Bertrand said, was to reach as vast an audience as possible.
The documentary's theme is that through human's over-consumption of natural resources, the earth's balance is being shifted and could have catastrophic events. I don't write this with an opinion on the film's call for action. I do, however, recommend you watch it for a couple of reasons.
First, there is a lot of knowledge to be gained from the film; education is always a good thing. The first fifteen minutes of the film, especially, offers a great narrative on the process that allowed for human life to be possible on earth. Secondly, the film is filled with shots all over the globe that, to put it mildly, are magnificent and breathtaking.
A friend sent me the link to check the doc out and, as I said earlier, I'm probably the last one to know about the film. Just in case you haven't seen it, though, you can check out HOME's website here or you can go straight to it's YouTube channel and watch the film which has subtitles offered in a variety of languages.
